Humalog Insulin Vials From Canada

Humalog is a type of insulin used to control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. It works quickly to help manage your blood sugar after meals.

How to Use Humalog Insulin Vials

Injection Timing: Inject Humalog within 15 minutes before a meal or right after a meal (within 20 minutes of starting the meal).

Appearance: Humalog should look clear and colorless, like water. If it looks cloudy, thick, or has particles in it, do not use it.

Storage:

  • Before First Use: Keep the Humalog vial in the refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C (36°F and 46°F). Do not freeze.
  • After Opening: Store the vial at room temperature, below 30°C (86°F), and away from direct heat and light. Discard the vial after 28 days, even if there is insulin left.

Preparing Your Dose

  1. Wash Your Hands: Make sure your hands are clean before handling the vial and syringe.
  2. Check the Vial: Look at the insulin to ensure it’s clear and colorless.
  3. Prepare the Syringe: Draw air into the syringe equal to your dose of Humalog. Insert the needle into the vial and inject the air into the vial.
  4. Draw the Insulin: Turn the vial and syringe upside down and draw the correct dose into the syringe.
  5. Inject the Insulin: Clean the injection site with alcohol, then inject the insulin under the skin of your stomach, thigh, buttocks, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites to avoid skin problems.

Dosage Forms

Humalog is available in:

  • Vials: 10 mL and 3 mL vials for use with a syringe.
  • Other Forms: It also comes in prefilled pens and cartridges for use with insulin pens.

Important Safety Information

Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar): This is the most common side effect of insulin. Symptoms include shakiness, sweating, confusion, and irritability. Always have a source of fast-acting sugar with you, like glucose tablets or juice.

Monitoring: Regularly check your blood sugar levels as instructed by your healthcare provider.

Do Not Share Needles or Insulin Pens: Sharing needles or pens can spread infections.
